Gears of War: E-Day PC System Requirements

Check the official Steam minimum and recommended CPU, GPU, RAM, Windows, DirectX 12, broadband, and 130 GB SSD requirements.

The official Steam listing for Gears of War: E-Day requires a 64-bit Windows PC, DirectX 12, broadband internet, and 130 GB of available SSD storage at both minimum and recommended tiers. Minimum memory is 12 GB; recommended memory is 16 GB.

Requirements can change before the October 6, 2026 release and future updates can need additional storage. Recheck AppID 3010850 before buying hardware.

Official minimum specification

The current minimum lists:

  • Windows 10 64-bit, version 22H2/build 19045.7291.
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, Intel i7-6850K, or Intel i5-10400 processor.
  • 12 GB RAM.
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 or RTX 2060, AMD Radeon RX 6600 or RX 9060, or Intel Arc A580 graphics.
  • DirectX 12, broadband, Windows-compatible audio, and 130 GB on an SSD.

Treat alternatives within a line as supported examples, not a ranking. A similarly named mobile GPU may perform differently from the desktop part.

The current recommended tier lists:

  • Windows 11 64-bit, version 25H2 or newer.
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel i5-11600K.
  • 16 GB RAM.
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 3060 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT, or Intel Arc B580.
  • DirectX 12, broadband, Windows-compatible audio, and 130 GB on an SSD.

The Steam page does not attach a fixed resolution, quality preset, and frame-rate target to these tables. Do not promise 4K/60 from “recommended” alone.

Plan storage beyond 130 GB

The listed number is available space, while installation, unpacking, shader data, updates, and system headroom can temporarily require more. Keep the Steam library on an SSD and leave a reasonable free-space margin.

The store warns that the game requires an initial download and may receive future updates needing additional storage and broadband. Exact preload and day-one patch sizes are not published here.

Do not move or delete unknown game files manually. Use Steam’s Storage interface for library moves and file verification.

Understand graphics feature claims

The PC feature list includes 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, hardware ray-traced lighting/reflections/shadows, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR “Redstone,” optional Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation on supported hardware, Variable Rate Shading, and a built-in benchmark.

“Supported” depends on GPU, display, driver, and the selected feature. Hardware ray tracing does not mean the minimum GPU will run every setting at maximum. Frame generation does not remove the need for acceptable base performance or responsive controls.

Use the benchmark and monitor frame pacing after launch before choosing a preset.

Display and input support

The store announces borderless, exclusive fullscreen, and windowed modes; uncapped frame rates on capable hardware; 21:9 and 32:9 ultrawide support for gameplay and menus; and keyboard/mouse plus controller remapping.

HDR requires a compatible configured display. Ultrawide support does not prove every cinematic uses the full aspect ratio. Uncapped output does not guarantee the hardware maintains a chosen rate.

Change one setting at a time and keep a stable fallback configuration.

Compare a PC safely

Use Windows System Information or the vendor control panel to record exact CPU, GPU, RAM, OS build, storage type/free space, and driver. Compare the weakest relevant component with the official list.

Laptop parts can have lower power limits than desktop parts with similar names. Integrated graphics should not be assumed equivalent to a listed discrete GPU.

If the machine falls below minimum, wait for verified launch testing or upgrade guidance; do not treat a successful menu launch as proof that all modes will run reliably.

Requirements FAQ

Is an SSD required?

Yes. The current minimum and recommended notes both require SSD storage.

How much RAM is listed?

12 GB minimum and 16 GB recommended.

Is macOS or native Linux listed?

No. The Steam system table is Windows-only. Steam Deck support is separately advertised, not a general native-Linux requirement.
