Gears of War: E-Day Updates

Gears of War: E-Day Updates

A dated official update tracker for E-Day's base game and separate Multiplayer Beta, including known issues, Beta windows, launch milestones, and what is not a patch.

The latest verified official E-Day item at this checkpoint is the August 5, 2026 Beta Known Issues announcement. It applies to the separate Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Beta, Steam AppID 4059240, and is not a base-game patch note. The base game, AppID 3010850, remains listed as coming soon for October 6, with Premium advance access advertised from October 1 and no public semantic version label.

This single tracker keeps Beta notices, product milestones, gameplay explanations, and future patches in separate categories. A trailer, pre-order announcement, or deep dive can change what players know without changing an installed build. No update child page is published in this pilot because the current official record is clearer and less repetitive as one dated hub.

Current status on August 8, 2026

The first Beta window is active from August 6 at 12:00 p.m. PT until August 10 at 10:00 a.m. PT for eligible early-access players. The open weekend is scheduled for August 13 at 12:00 p.m. PT through August 17 at 10:00 a.m. PT. Both use the separate Multiplayer Beta product and the same announced content subset.

The base game has not released. Steam still reports a coming-soon state and an October 6 date. Therefore, no article should claim a current base-game patch, launch BuildID, complete Season 1 patch history, or public semantic version. Steam changenumbers, unknown package apps, and Beta behavior do not fill that gap.

The Coalition has announced five themed post-launch multiplayer seasons beginning with Season 1: Emergence. The remaining season themes, dates, maps, modes, classes, and events were not fully published as of this check. That is a roadmap commitment, not five released updates.

August 5 — Beta Known Issues

The official Steam Community Announcement states that the Beta is not final software. It lists possible crashes and performance dips, matchmaking latency or delay, unfinished accessibility behavior, and world issues such as cover errors, streaming pop-in, or out-of-bounds conditions.

The PC section requires current Beta drivers: NVIDIA 610.74, AMD 26.6.4, and Intel 101.8864 or later. It also names OBS older than 29.0.0, Intel Arc shader recompilation, disabled ReBAR on Arc A580/B580 systems, Comodo Antivirus blocking, account mismatches, Steam Machine linking, and some display-mode behavior.

Frame generation is disabled and frame rate is capped at 150 FPS in the Beta. The announcement explicitly describes both as temporary and says the final game will differ. These facts belong to AppID 4059240 during the test window and should be archived or rewritten when the base game ships.

Type: official Beta support notice. Not: a patch note for AppID 3010850.

August 3–4 — Open Beta details and PvP addition

The official Open Beta Details announcement was updated August 4 to add PvP Versus to the first early-access weekend. It confirms the two test windows, the same content across weekends, the Steam entitlement path, and six challenge rewards that can appear at launch when unlocked.

Progress carries between the two Beta weekends: challenges, Medal progress, rewards, Class progression, and Player Level. At the October launch, the Beta Player Title, Beta Medal, and unlocked Beta Challenge rewards remain, while Class progression, Player Level, and other Medal progress reset.

The page also says Steam Beta play does not require a Microsoft account, although cross-platform squad invitations require linking. The base-game store currently includes a Microsoft Account notice, so the launch rule must be rechecked rather than overwritten by the Beta FAQ.

Type: access, schedule, and Beta content announcement. Not: a base-game hotfix.

July 31 — Gameplay Updates

The Coalition published a detailed explanation of the rebuilt movement, cover, weapon, enemy, and interface systems. It confirms slides, jumps, direct mantling, cover gaps, projectile travel, shoulder swapping, round-by-round reloads for the Gnasher and Breechshot, named weapon behavior, and redesigned enemies.

This article establishes the intended sandbox across Campaign, Horde, and Versus. It does not identify a released public version or say that every showcased value is permanently balanced. The Gnasher six-shell statement and movement design are official pre-release facts; future patch notes can still change tuning.

Type: official mechanics deep dive. Not: a downloadable patch record.

July 30 — Multiplayer Deep Dive

The official multiplayer overview defines launch Horde Siege, Versus, progression, customization, currencies, and post-launch intent. It confirms twelve-player Horde Siege across three squads, four launch classes, four 4v4 core Versus modes, six maps, Ranked and Social structures, Player Level and Re-Up, medals, challenges, Coins, Iron, and no battle pass.

It also draws key mode boundaries: Versus has no Weapon Mods; Horde mission-found Weapon Parts require extraction; each launch class has thirty levels; and the Beta is only a subset of launch content. These are launch-framework disclosures rather than evidence that every system is already live in AppID 3010850.

Type: official feature baseline. Not: Season 1 patch notes.

June 7 — release, campaign, and editions milestone

Xbox and Gears announcements on June 7 established the October 6 release, Premium advance access, editions, Bravo Squad, four-player online campaign co-op, console-only two-player split-screen, and major multiplayer features. The same material places the campaign in Kalona over three days and identifies Marcus, Dom, Mags, and Lucas as playable characters.

Premium is an edition entitlement for the same base game. It does not create a separate canonical campaign or a different Steam base-game AppID. The Collector’s and Premium bundles should be tracked as commercial offerings, not DLC identities invented from an unknown package entry.

Type: release and product milestone. Not: launch day.

How this tracker will label future changes

A future entry must state the publication date, check date, AppID, product type, platform, public version when stated, branch when verified, and whether the item changes an installed build. A patch note needs actual fixes or balance changes. A known-issues post records unresolved problems. A roadmap announces plans. A store update may change requirements without being a gameplay patch.

When a release patch exists, affected evergreen guides should update their version note and link back here; they should not copy the entire announcement. Beta-only issues should remain archived under AppID 4059240 instead of contaminating base-game support.

No BuildID will be turned into a semantic version. No SteamDB changenumber will be treated as proof of a public patch. Community reports can identify a symptom, but an official fix state requires an attributable current source or reproducible in-game verification.

Player checklist for an update claim

  1. Confirm whether the page refers to AppID 3010850 or 4059240.
  2. Read the author and feed label; Steam news feeds can aggregate third-party posts.
  3. Separate published date from the date the page was last checked or revised.
  4. Look for an explicit fix, build, version, or deployment statement before calling it a patch.
  5. Match the platform and branch; Xbox, Beta, and Steam base-game behavior are not interchangeable.
  6. Recheck affected Support, Classes, Arsenal, Progression, Horde, or Versus pages for stale scope.

Updates FAQ

What is the latest E-Day update?

The latest verified official item on August 8 is the August 5 Beta Known Issues announcement. It is a Beta support notice, not a base-game patch.

What is the current base-game version?

No public semantic version is stated. The base game has not released, and this tracker does not substitute a package number or Beta label.

Is Season 1: Emergence live?

No. It is the announced launch season in a five-season post-launch plan. Full dates and contents were not yet published.

Why is there no separate patch-note child page?

No official base-game patch exists yet, and splitting the same sparse pre-release timeline would create duplicated thin pages. This hub will add children only when a substantive, versioned update passes the evidence gate.
