Gears of War: E-Day Demolition Guide

Control Demolition's neutral bomb, choose between two enemy sites, protect the carrier, and survive the no-respawn plant fight.

Demolition is a 4v4 objective mode in Gears of War: E-Day built around one neutral bomb. A team must secure it, carry it to one of two enemy bombsites, plant, and defend until detonation. The official overview sets three successful detonations as the match win condition and describes the armed fight as having no respawns.

That structure makes information and trades more important than a fast solo route. The carrier needs space created ahead, and every player lost during the plant defense changes the possible crossfire.

Win neutral control before choosing a site

The opening contest determines who can set the first route. Approach the bomb with a pickup player, a trade partner, and at least one angle that watches the opponent’s likely Power Weapon or flank.

Do not make the carrier the first body through exposed cover. Secure the immediate lane, then collect. If the enemy reaches the bomb first, decide whether to challenge, contain the exit, or control the destination site. A rushed four-player collapse can give away both the bomb and map control.

Equal loadouts mean the starting contest is fair; on-map Power Weapons can change it. Weapon Mods are not active in Versus.

Choose between two sites from current information

Two bombsites make the defense split its attention, but the attacking team still needs a reason for the route. Count visible defenders, identify owned Power Weapons, and check which crossing can be traded.

A short route is not automatically safe. Precinct’s interior breach, Battleship’s exposed crossing, Market’s balcony, or Skyward’s narrow path can each allow a defender to influence the carrier before the plant. Send a lead player to clear the last corner and keep another behind the carrier to stop pursuit.

If the first site becomes stacked, rotate while the bomb still has a protected path. A late reversal through enemy-controlled space can be worse than committing to a difficult but coordinated plant.

Carry without becoming the whole attack

The carrier’s goal is to reach a valid plant, not lead elimination stats. Stay behind cleared cover, communicate every stop, and avoid committed movement until the landing is visible. Teammates should not move so far ahead that a flank can isolate the bomb.

If forced to fight, use the live weapon and interaction behavior rather than assuming the carrier retains every option. Official pre-release material does not publish every bomb-carry restriction.

When the carrier goes down, first control the dropped bomb area. A desperate pickup under two enemy angles can hand over the round’s central resource.

Build the post-plant crossfire

After arming, cover the bomb from different but connected positions. One player watches the direct interaction, one holds the most likely retake entrance, and the others protect cross and flank routes. Everyone staring at the bomb can be attacked from the same side.

No-respawn pressure means a one-for-one trade can favor the planting team when time is advancing, but do not throw away the last angle. Force defenders to spend time locating and clearing positions before they can interact.

Use the live timer. This guide intentionally does not invent plant, detonation, or defuse seconds from pre-release footage.

Retake in the correct order

Defenders should gather information before entering separately. Identify the bomb position, likely crossfire, remaining opponents, and time. Choose whether to clear every angle or cover one player beginning the interaction.

Smoke can remove a long sightline, while a teammate controls close pressure. A Power Weapon can open the site, but missing repeatedly may consume the only retake window. Make the interaction plan explicit: “clear then defuse” or “cover the touch.”

If time is already lost, preserve the team’s communication for the next round rather than blaming the nearest player. Review which earlier route allowed the plant.

Defend before the neutral bomb moves

The non-carrying team can control a site approach while still contesting neutral space. Avoid hiding four players at the bombsites and giving the opponent a free pickup. Use one player for early information, two for contestable lanes, and one as a flexible site anchor.

When the enemy carrier is seen, do not abandon the second site without checking for a rotation. Pressure the carrier’s safe cover and protect the route that would allow a switch.

Dropped Power Weapons matter. Denying the carrier access can be more important than immediately chasing a wounded escort.

Round review

After each round, answer five questions: who controlled neutral pickup, which site looked weak, where the carrier became exposed, whether the planted crossfire covered the interaction, and which death could not be traded.

Change one opening assignment rather than replacing the entire plan. Because three detonations win the announced match format, the opposing team has time to adapt; repeatable information calls matter more than a trick route that works once.

Record any live overtime, side-switch, round, or carry rules with build date before adding them to a permanent guide.
